In the 1980, sociologist Ray Oldenburg coined the term “third space” as a relaxed place outside of home or work where individuals gather to connect, commune, and interact. Third spaces are welcoming, comfortable and accessible.
For women of color-owned businesses, The 3rd is that space. It’s a place for them to commune, grow and thrive. The organization was founded by Laura Bacon, a long-time Columbia, Maryland resident who envisioned a community where entrepreneurs could connect, receive support, and watch their businesses grow. Laura also envisioned a physical space where 3rd and community members can gather, interact and relax. It’s all about connection…and community.
Membership in The 3rd provides a multitude of benefits that go far beyond networking. Click below to learn more!
